Touch typing fingers9/12/2023 Generally, typing 25-45 words per minute is considered average. While it looks like a few extra minutes and nothing to worry about, if you consider your whole working week it can potentially save some noteworthy extra time in a busy week. With 70 words per minute that would only be 4.85 minutes. If you are writing 30 words per minute then it would take you 11.33 minutes. This post I have written is 340 words until the headline above. This would really depend on how much time you spend typing and how many words you type per day but here is a simple example: How much time can you save by touch typing? But if you are someone who would like to test your speed and see if there are ways to improve your typing speed, touch typing can be something you might want to give a chance. I believe there are highly talented people who can type quite fast and comfortably with less than 10 fingers. So by time and practice, your brain memorizes which letter belongs to which finger to the point that you don't need to look at the keyboard anymore as the motion becomes automatic without thinking. Even the pinkie finger has a mission, none is left out! The logic of the method of this kind of typing is that, every finger has certain letters that it can move for typing, limited by their location on the keyboard. For those who are not familiar with the concept, touch typing is when you use all of your 10 fingers to type. I learned touch typing when I was at high school and have been seeing the benefits since. Along with other productivity methods that you can implement to your workday, touch typing is another great time saver! Prioritizing your replies is another story but one solution to the increase of written communication is touch typing-An old but underrated skill! Touch typing can be the remedy for your problems if you are suffering from neck problems resulting from moving your sight from screen to keyboard often and want to save from your valuable time. With this rapid increase, it can feel more overwhelming at times for some people to invest time to reply to all of these communication channels and might feel like it is an impossible task to achieve. Even before Covid-19 electronic communication was a major part of our lives for many many years and now it seems that with the amount of communication channels increasing, we invest more time to interact by writing. Especially with the new virtual office environment, it is fair to say that a good portion of work has moved to chat or other applications.
