300 blackout subsonic load data n1109/11/2023 The lower is built from a PSA kit, with I believe a standard buffer (2.875 oz). Have yet to fire any lighter weight ammo out of it, and the Hornady expanding ammo refuses to feed well in my gun consistently, so I don't use it. The host is a 10.5', 1/7 twist MAS Defense upper, pistol-length gas tube, with a non-adjustable gas block. Plinking rounds might be a bit faster as I don't mind if an occasional supersonic round makes it thru.Īdmittedly- all my. I get great reliability even at the slower velocities, so I am loading with an aim for that 950 typically on the quietest rounds. What I did notice- not for the first time- is that loads with an average of say 900-950 out of a 9.5" barrel sound noticeably quieter than rounds running in the 1000 fps and faster ranges. I did try 42 I know for sure, one of those (not sure which) lots of people had claimed was quieter, but I couldn't notice it if true. ![]() The Sub-X bullet used in Subsonic Rifle features a lead core. Subsonic Handgun utilizes tried-and-true XTP bullets that expand reliably at subsonic velocities. I don't think I had any Lil Gun so maybe that is something I will try someday. tell everyone Hornady Subsonic Ammunition designed for accuracy and performance below the speed of sound now comes in both rifle and handgun loads. A supersonic 300 Blackout round with a 110 grain bullet has a muzzle velocity approximately 1,000 fps slower than that of a 223 Rem, giving it a significantly faster bullet drop. round, it says 8.4 grains is max 1062 fps. I've had better results with N110 and N120 in a semi auto with bullet weights from 180 to 220 for subs. That being said, if you use the very heavy and long bullets (200-220) loaded to AR15 magazine length, a subsonic charge of H110 is not that much reduced due to the decreased case volume and the mass of the bullet. Trailboss also doesn't like to be compressed. H110 is great for full house loads but the manufacturer advises against reduced loads with this powder (same for W296). In a bolt action, I've gone to VV N32C (Tin Star) for everything from 110gr to 160gr subsonic. ![]() So, I will probably load a few at 10.0 grains and a few at 11.0 and see how they shoot. It's stupid quiet in a bolt gun with lighter bullets. ![]() Basically it was a waste of time, and I ended up back at 1680. Hodgdons reloading site shows 1680 fps for a 13.4 grain starting load with Lil Gun (this is for a 180 gr. Fairly recently I tried a small variety of different powders trying to chase a "quieter".
